Baby Drama

Well we had our first weekend with the students taking home 4 of the Reality Works Real Care babies. I had programmed them for quiet hours and also to stop on Sunday night at 11 pm.  Turns out some of the babies quiet hours worked while some didn't.  The worst of it all was they didn't stop at 11!! Some of the students were up all last night with their babies and had to come to school today.  While it is realistic that teen moms have to stay up late during school days, I also felt bad they weren't their best for school.  Overall it was a success except we had one girl whose baby stopped Sunday morning at 6 am later to find out it was because of ABUSE SHUTDOWN!  A lot of the occurrences were in the hours of 12 am until 7 am.  Those nights can be rough.

In Family Relations today we reviewed for our test tomorrow over self-concept and self-esteem.  I will post the test tomorrow for all to see!

In health today we did a brain storm with the kids over the chapters they want to learn.  The main theme was first aid, STI's STD's, Drugs and Alcohol, and human diseases.  A pretty good list for my cooperating teacher and I to get started on!

In foods we surprisingly had a TON of stir-fry left overs.  We weren't planning on this but decided to turn it into a demonstration lab where we made frittatas.
To make the frittata we:

  • We took the left over stir-fry warmed it in the microwave.l
  • Laid in the bottom of a glass cooking bowl
  • Mixed 6 eggs and a cup of milk
  • Poured the eggs over the stir-fry
  • Cooked in oven at 350 for about 12 minutes
  • Added cheddar cheese as a topping and let cook for about 2 more minutes
The kids liked this better than the stir fry from the day before and we were happy to hear that and get rid of the leftovers!
